Highland Park & University Park
Comprised of Highland Park and University Park, the Park Cities area of Dallas is known for its high quality of living, beautiful parks and some of the most architecturally stunning and palatial homes in Dallas. The very nature of Highland Park itself speaks to its architectural roots as the city was laid out by Wilbur David Cook; the landscape architect who designed Beverly Hills, California. Nestled in the heart of Dallas, the Park Cities is convenient to downtown Dallas, the Dallas North Tollway and some of the best dining and shopping in Dallas courtesy of Highland Park Village and NorthPark Center. Education is highly valued in the Park Cities as shown through both its school system and the neighboring Southern Methodist University. The Highland Park Independent School District is a consolidated school district serving both Highland Park and University Park. The district includes 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 intermediate school, and Highland Park High School. Teachers in the HPISD are required to either have their master's degree or must attain a master's degree within five years after being hired. HPISD is known as one of the most highly regarded public school systems in Texas and the United States with over ninety-five percent of its students attending college after graduation.
