Ellen Terry Dallas Real Estate

The History and Philosophy of Ellen Terry

In 1981, the merger of Ellen Terry and "The Best of the Boutique" and "The Best of the Big" founded one of Dallas' most successful boutique residential real estate companies specializing in quality, upscale properties throughout the Dallas Metroplex. The company has closed over $2.7 billion in sales during the firm's 21 years in business, with over one-fourth of this volume representing homes priced above $1 million. Ellen Terry, Realtors is often referred to as the Neiman Marcus of the residential real estate industry because of the firm's dedication to the highest level of quality marketing and a total commitment to excellence in both product and service.

ellenIn June 1995, Ellen Terry sold her company to her mentor and friend Ebby Halliday. Ebby Halliday, Realtors is a 55-year old firm with over 1000 agents and is the largest privately owned residential company in Texas. Ebby and Ellen refer to the successful merger of the two companies as the best of the Big and Best of the Boutique, forming an alliance to create the Best of the Best. In 1996, Ellen Terry left management and reentered the residential marketplace as an active listing and sales associate for multimillion-dollar homes. She has closed in excess of $530 million in sales volume representing 158 multimillion-dollar properties ranging from $1 million to $22 million.

Ellen's professional, civic, charity, community activities and past boards encompass a wide range of involvement. She has been awarded the Southern Methodist University Distinguished Alumni Award; the Easterwood Cup Realtor of the Year; the Distinguished Alumni Award for Christian College in Columbia, Missouri; a sustaining member of the Dallas Junior League, Crystal Charity Ball Committee and current member of Charter 100. She has been honored by Girls, Inc. with the She Knows Where She's Going Award and the Kim Dawson Attitude and Attire Award, and most recently honored at the 8th Annual Award of Excellence for successful entrepreneurs.

ellenEllen Terry's personal goal is to make a difference where she works and lives, giving back to the community in every way possible. In 1981 she created the Awareness Hour held at Highland Park High School for parents, teachers and teenagers, bringing in local and national speakers on alcohol and drug abuse. In 1991, she founded the Ellen Terry Realtors Ladies Golf Classic benefiting Genesis Women's Shelter for abused women and their children. Over $400,000 in funds have been raised since the inception for the golf classic benefiting the charity.

Ellen's favorite quote is by Napoleon Hill, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve," and she not only believes this, she lives it!
